At Porsche Centre South London we are delighted to sponsor Esmee Hawkey as she takes on the Porsche Carrera Cup GB 2018. As she hits the halfway mark, we take a look back at how she’s got on and ask her a few questions about racing.
Rounds 1 and 2 - Brands Hatch (Indy)
Under rainy and windy conditions Esmee hit close to home at Brands Hatch. With the support from the Porsche Centre South London, Esmee finished 3rd in class and 9th overall.
Rounds 3 and 4 - Donington Park
This became quite a struggle with the wet conditions. Esmee still pushed through with her performance taking 5th place in class and 12th overall. Esmee tweeted: ‘Not our weekend. On to Monza in two weeks' time! Will come back stronger and faster!!’
Rounds 5 and 6 - Monza
The weather and track was on Esmee’s side for round five and six as the sun shone and her number was picked from the reversing grid bag. She was able to walk on one of the most iconic podiums in motorsport to take 2nd place in class and 6th place overall.
Rounds 7 and 8 - Oulton Park
Unfortunately Esmee didn’t have the best start in this race but she gave it everything. Taking 12th place in round seven, Esmee battled Pro-Am Rory Collingbourne for a podium position, however, the two made contact and Esmee's race ended in the gravel trap.
We wish Esmee the best of luck for the next half of the race season. Follow us on Facebook to stay up-to-date with Esmee’s progress, as we support her every step of the way.
Question and answer with Esmee
What has been your favourite race/track so far?
My favourite race was Monza, Italy.
What are you most looking forward to over the next half of the competition?
Becoming more competitive and ultimately winning a race in my class, Pro-Am. I have had a third place at Brands Hatch and a second place at Monza, so I really want to go one better and get my first win in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB!
What do you do to keep your nerves under control?
I talk myself through the whole process before a race. I find that really helps keep my nerves in check.
Watch rounds 9 and 10 on Sunday 29 August, live on channel ITV4 at 9:15 and 15:05.
*Data determined in accordance with the measurement method required by law. Since 01 September 2018 all new cars are approved in accordance with the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP). You can find more information on WLTP at
. From 01 January 2019, all fuel consumption figures are shown as determined in accordance with WLTP. CO₂ figures will be shown as NEDC-equivalent values, as CO₂ based taxation will continue to be based on an NEDC value (derived from WLTP) until 06 April 2020. For Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) range and Equivalent All Electric Range (EAER) figures are determined with the battery fully charged, using a combination of both battery power and fuel.
Values are provided for comparison only. To the extent that fuel and energy consumption or CO₂ values are given as ranges, these do not relate to a single, individual car and do not constitute part of the offer. Optional features and accessories can change relevant vehicle parameters such as weight, rolling resistance and aerodynamics which may result in a change in fuel or energy consumption and CO₂ values. Vehicle loading, topography, weather and traffic conditions, as well as individual driving styles, can all affect the actual fuel consumption, energy consumption, electrical range, and CO₂ emissions of a car.
